Australians in the bush

So remember in Bambi, when Bambi's father says 'man is in the forest'
Well here's what happens when 'Australians are in the bush'
Found today on a walk in my locality, and these ones won't even count in the legal annual kill of 3.6 million. But lets not talk of Australia's shame with animals, we could go on all day about that, why there's mulesing, live transport, piggeries, battery farms none of which would be legal in Europe, oh hang on look we won a medal in the Olympics, that's alright then.

Kangaroo cull on again

The ACT Government is pushing for another cull of local Kangaroos, this time on Dept. of Defence land near Belconnen. Defence apparently were not keen to kill the kangaroos, but the ACT Government who appear to love above most things to implement culls, has forced them to, by disallowing the movement of these Kangaroos to another area.
Last time the ACT killed Kangaroos, it elicited worldwide coverage (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6653397.stm and http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2007-05-14-kangaroo_N.htm?csp=34), let's hope the same applies again this time.

In the meantime contact Animal Liberation ACT if you can help.

Article 'Living with Animals'

I have an article in Online Opinion at http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=7007

It discusses Australians relationships with animals. A segment thus:

'Australia, from all the evidence, is at war with its animals. It is an unceasing slaughter unprecedented anywhere else and it continues with public support and participation. It is no exaggeration to say that most interactions between Australians and animals that share the land, including domesticated animals, involves some violence or ends with an animal being killed and/or eaten.'
